It is the dream of the parents to see their children launch their career as a professional. Among all the lucrative and sought after careers, Engineering or Medical stands with a difference. The dream of the students, hope and expectation of parents come true when one qualifies in any entrance examination conducted by various examination bodies. in Engineering the IITs are the vanguard and getting the admission is the coveted dream. Getting the admission into the IITs is an uphill task IIT-JEE being one of the most difficult examination, as now it is being conducted in two phases i.e, phase - I preliminary examination, generally conducted in the month of April with objective question and phase - II, Main examination, conducted in the month of May every year. The next to IITs are the Regional Engineering and other engineering colleges under different universities, selection to which is through Joint Entrance Examination, conducted state wise  and others AISEE conducted by CBSE. Some of them are conducted with MCQ's and others on subjective questions. The exam is generally conducted in the month of the May the +2 Sc. final year examination. The most important features of the entrance test are the unpredictable trend and style in question paper, frequent changes in the trend every year, and getting less time for answering the question. Secondly the types of question asked are such that they never permit the students to be confined to any specific books / materials, as the question asked do not form, the verbatim reproduction of the books. Hence a student's own ability and clarification of concept can only be instrumental to get through. The preparation should not be the mechanical memorization of problems and solution from different books. It should be the development of the creative ability to apply the knowledge in time and in practical field, conceptual clarity, well structured plan of studies, hard practice and professional guidance all these factors count in one's success in the competition. Selection of book and material, peer group and a good coaching institution matter much for preparation.
